Buildings

The photos below illustrate the temperature distribution on the outside of three buildings on a winter day. They highlight the areas of heat loss and retention throughout different parts of the structure. However, it is important to note that the recorded temperatures may not be entirely accurate, as reflective materials on the building’s surface can distort readings. To fix this, professional thermal photographers can change the emissivity settings to account for reflectivity.  The final image focuses on a ceiling-mounted heat vent located in the engineering building at Cooper Union.
