Bulbs

The images below show an incandescent light bulb after being on for a couple of minutes, reaching a temperature of about 114ºC.  Incandescent light bulbs generate light by passing an electric current through a filament, which heats up and emits  electromagnectic radiation. The thermal camera detects this radiation to determine temperature.  Due to the filament’s high resistance, the bulb glows at high temperatures. Incandescent light bulbs are very inefficient as only 10% of energy is converted to light, while the rest is lost as heat [4]. Since the bulb may be reflective, a piece of black tape can be added to the bulb for a more accurate reading.
