PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

PHILOSOPHY

We are an interdisciplinary team that explores how simple rules lead to complex outcomes.

We design novel materials and technologies using statistical mechanics, optimization, and computer simulations. Along the way, we ask how complex designs could have emerged in nature.

We advance expression of complex ideas both inside and outside of the classroom through development of new scientific demos, pedagogy, and art.

We are use technology as an artistic medium. Through curious manipulation of light, sound, heat, and materials, we are looking to enable strange new expressions.

We also explore the applied philosophical connections behind the technologies and engineering practices which continue to play a transformative role in our modern society.

We are led by Prof. Abhishek Sharma at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Albert Nerken School of Engineering, and comprise a talented team of students and collaborators.
